Dance Explorations: a workshop by Justin Alesna and Sylvia Suttle of SDC-Suttle Dance Company

During this workshop, students will learn the fundamentals of dance. We all love to impress with our toys and fire but now its time to strip down to the bare essentials and use the tool your were given at birth. Class will start with an inventory of the body and progress from individual work to partnering and group work. No dance experience is necessary. Wear comfortable shoes (dance shoes are a plus), bring a towel, and water. Learn to command the space around you and draw the eye towards you. Everything learned here can be applied to flow arts. I hope you're excited cause we sure are :]

Past WORKSHOPS
Monday the January 4, 2016, James Heugh will be instructing a 90 minute standing acro class at Detroit Fire Collective! Come learn how to base, spot and fly in some of Acros most exciting and accessible standing poses. You do not need to have any experience to attend this seminar, there will be moves for beginner, intermediate and advanced practitioners!
There is no partner needed, just show up and be ready to have fun!
James is a professional performer and teacher of standing acrobatics currently living out of LA.
The workshop is $15 and include's the entrance to the Flow Jam.

Detroit Fire Collective is a circus community that revolves around a once a week flow jam that is open to the public where both professionals and amateurs come together to share the knowledge and culture of fire spinning and circus play.
This event is $5. All income goes back into the community to buy fuel, props, pay workshops hosts and DJ's, print waivers, and anything else that may come up along the way. We pride ourselves on being a transparent to the community. If you are interested in learning a more detailed description of our spending's and income feel free to contact Jade.
You must sign the waiver in order to enter the Flow Jam. The waiver can be found on the front table where payment is made.
We have lots of extra props for people to use! These props can be found in our shopping cart. Any attendee is welcome to go through the cart to see what we have and take what they'd like for the event. Please return when done so that props don't get misplaced or left behind.
This is a drug free alcohol free event, please respect this by not bringing any substances of coming intoxicated, thanks!
There is a weekly community meeting held around 9:30. This meeting is a chance for any attendee to ask questions, express concerns, or share something cool! After the community meeting a smaller fire safety meeting is held which is required for any attendee new to the DFC who has interest in spinning fire or any regular who is interested in transitioning to fire for the first time.
We provide fuel for fire spinning! The fuel we use is Coleman's camping fuel. If you want to use another fuel (specifically indoors) please ask first. Please no fire breathing or burn off's indoors. Thanks!
