DETROIT FIRE COLLECTIVE FILM AND PHOTOGRAPHY RELEASE POLICY
100.00 Introduction and Purpose
This policy governs the activities of filming and photography during Detroit Fire Collective (DFC) Events and on its properties (either owned or leased), the assessment of fees for such activities, and the ownership/use of DFC images.
200.00 Definitions
DFC Image: A still or moving image (filming and/or photography) at a DFC sponsored event for which DFC exercises control through use of DFC members, participants and/or contractors.
Professional Equipment: equipment with removable lens and or high quality imaging capability, as well as additional equipment such as lighting, microphones, ect.
Photo Subject: Any identifiable person or item contained within an image captured.
Event: may include any competition, performance, training session, social function or any activity organized at any level by the DFC.
Filming: The capturing of moving or still images of the DFC by any means on any media now in use or that may be invented in the future including, but not limited to, film, videotape, digital disk, or any electronic transmission to another medium or to the internet.
Photography: The capturing of still images onto any compatible medium, or posting to the internet, by any means or devices now in use or that may be invented in the future including, but not limited to, film cameras, digital cameras, electronic devices such as personal computers, mobile phones, or personal digital devices.
300.00 Policy
No photography or filming is permitted during DFC Events and on its owned or leased properties unless permission has been granted to do so prior to the event and in accordance with this Policy. The DFC shall enforce the photography and filming policies.
Filming and photography will be approved only if it does not interfere with the educational, entertaining or other program functions or events of the DFC; does not pose a security or safety risk to those involved in the filming and photography or other attendees; does not cause damage to any asset; and, the use or re-use of the resulting film or photography product is consistent with the interests of the DFC and other applicable policies stated herein.
400.00 Permission to Take Images or Film
Permission is required by the DFC to ensure that people, performers, and its community are aware of when and how their images may be used. Permission can be obtained through:
500.00 Commercial Filming and Photography
Commercial Filming and Photography includes filming and photography for commercial purposes and for which DFC will not own the copyright to the product created. All commercial filming and photography requires permission in advance. No DFC Images may be used in a commercial film or photograph without express prior written authorization from the DFC and the individual(s) in the images. Examples of commercial filming and photography include, but are not limited to:

700.00 Right to Terminate
The DFC reserves the right to terminate any photography, videotaping, or filming that causes an undue disturbance, violates DFC policies, or endangers the health and safety of participants, patrons, and staff.
All events are subject to individual restrictions. Questions regarding potential filming or photography activities should be directed to DFC organizers. The DFC may charge the responsible party to recover costs that may be incurred by the DFC to facilitate the filming or photography or to repair any damage to DFC assets.
800.00 Ownership/Limitations
My signature is intended to bind not only myself, but also members of my family and my spouse (if any), if I am alive, and my heirs, assigns, administrators, and personal representatives, if I am not alive.
THE UNDERSIGNED HAVING READ THE ABOVE AGREEMENT, UNDERSTANDS THAT S/HE HAS GIVEN UP SUBSTANTIAL RIGHTS BY SIGNING IT AND SIGNS IT VOLUNTARILY AND WITH SOUND MIND.

- General permission: where permission is sought from DFC organizers for a single or specific event prior to the event and has not been sought generally through any other contract means; and
- Individual permission: where permission is sought by the individual(s) captured in the film/photograph.
- Any person wishing to photograph a subject using professional equipment must first register, obtain, and wear the appropriate credentials. Each person registering a device will be required to produce photographic identification as proof of identity.
500.00 Commercial Filming and Photography
Commercial Filming and Photography includes filming and photography for commercial purposes and for which DFC will not own the copyright to the product created. All commercial filming and photography requires permission in advance. No DFC Images may be used in a commercial film or photograph without express prior written authorization from the DFC and the individual(s) in the images. Examples of commercial filming and photography include, but are not limited to:
- Theatrical release, broadcast or print media
- Portfolio use
- Industrial use (e.g., trade show, intra-company or intra-industry use)
- Photographs for calendars, works of art or other commercial products
- Documentary media
- Photo competitions
600.00 Limitations/Restrictions on Use of DFC Images
Photographers shall:
- Not capture any footage or photographs of any minor may be used or published in any way without prior written parental consent.
- Obtain the express consent of the DFC to use any DFC Images for promotional or commercial use on any public site or in any public medium. Express consent shall be obtained by sharing the image/footage to the DFC’s Facebook page for at least 48 hours prior to such use to allow individuals captured an opportunity to review.
- Comply within 24 hours with any DFC or photo subject removal request.
- Give proper attribution to the DFC and individuals captured in the images/film.

800.00 Ownership/Limitations
- The DFC acknowledges photographer copyrights. With limitations;
- Photographer ownership is bound to the terms and conditions outlined within the Film and Photography Policy
- DFC will be granted full license for use of original non-watermarked DFC images and its derivatives by request. Although watermarked photos are the preferred usage by the DFC for general social media usage, the DFC will make every effort to provide photo credit when original non-watermarked images are used.
- DFC photo subjects will be granted license for personal and personal promotion use of original non-watermarked DFC images by requested if the photo subject is in the photo. Photo subject will make every effort to provide photo credit when original non-watermarked images are used as requested. The photo subject must receive permission through the DFC before obtaining and using unwatermarked imagery.
- Photographers are to provide watermarked images to the DFC Facebook Group page within a reasonable time frame.
- Photographers are to provide high resolution watermarked and non-watermarked images to the DFC’s defined archive location such as Google Drive and Dropbox. At the time of delivery photographer should name each file with how they would like to be credited.
